Abhishek Sharma walks into today's fifth and final T20I against New Zealand in Hamilton just 13 runs away from a big Indian record — the most T20I runs by an Indian batter in a calendar year.
The record stands at 1,164 runs, set in 2022.
Abhishek has scored 1,125 runs in 37 matches in 2026 so far, and his 27 in Auckland on Friday took him to 1,152 — just 12 short, so 13 more runs in Hamilton today would take him past the mark.
His 38-ball 113 in Wellington on Tuesday, which sealed the series for India, is the standout knock of his run.
Teammate Ishan Kishan is also close to the same mark.
India lead the five-match series 3-1, and the final match starts at 12:30 PM IST at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
