Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi have set a new T20I record, scoring at 18.13 runs per over in their 133-run opening stand against New Zealand in Wellington — the fastest scoring rate for any century opening partnership by a full-member side.
The pair beat the previous best of 16.08 runs per over set by England's Jos Buttler and Phil Salt against South Africa at Old Trafford in 2025.
Abhishek smashed 113 off 38 balls with a 35-ball century, while Sooryavanshi scored 45 as India chased down 199 in 13.2 overs to seal the series 3-0.
