Afghanistan Climb to Historic Sixth in ODI Rankings
Afghanistan have climbed to sixth place in the men's ODI team rankings, their highest-ever position in the format.
Afghanistan sit on 94 rating points from 31 matches, level with Sri Lanka, who have slipped to seventh after losing one point following their defeat to Pakistan in the tri-series final in Lahore on 31 October.
Sri Lanka have 4,144 points from 44 matches, so Afghanistan sit ahead of them on the table despite the equal rating.
India continue to lead the rankings with 115 points, followed by New Zealand on 109, while South Africa and Pakistan are third and fourth with 104 points each and Australia are fifth on 102.
England sit eighth on 93 points, behind Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
The updated table was released after Pakistan's tri-series win, which also featured England, and it puts Afghanistan in the world's top six, ahead of Sri Lanka and England.
