The Women's Premier League could grow beyond its current five teams, with the cricket board saying it will hold discussions on expanding the league from next year.
Board secretary Devajit Saikia said the board will hold brainstorming sessions on increasing the number of teams, as well as improving other areas of the league, after the 2027 auction showed how much talent is waiting for a chance.
Around 150 players went under the hammer at the auction in Kochi on Wednesday, but only 25 of them found teams across the five franchises.
The league has had five teams since it began in 2023, and the 2027 season runs from 14 January to 7 February.
