Zimbabwe captain Brian Bennett hit a century on his Test captaincy debut as Zimbabwe passed 400 against Afghanistan on the second day of the first Test in Sharjah on Friday.
Bennett, leading Zimbabwe for the first time in place of injured Richard Ngarava, reached his hundred off 178 balls with a four, and was unbeaten on 115 as Zimbabwe reached 407 for 6.
It was the 22-year-old's third Test hundred and his second against Afghanistan, after his 110 not out against the same side in Bulawayo in December 2024.
Wessly Madhevere made 50 in support of his captain, a day after Brendan Taylor's 131 had put Zimbabwe in charge at 326 for 5 at stumps on day one.
