Perth Scorchers have named Beth Mooney as their new captain for WBBL|12, with Sophie Devine stepping down after six years in charge.
Mooney has played 80 games for the Scorchers since moving from Brisbane Heat in 2020, while Devine led the side to their only WBBL title in WBBL|07 and played 77 games for the club.
Devine will stay in the squad and remain part of the leadership group, and head coach Becky Grundy praised her six-year stint as captain and the team culture she helped build.
Mooney said she was honoured to take the job and will keep turning to Devine for advice through the season.
