Bhut's Record 8 for 17 Seals Saurashtra's Innings Win Over Assam
Left-arm spinner Parth Bhut took a record eight wickets for 17 runs as Saurashtra beat Assam by an innings and 12 runs in their Ranji Trophy match in Rajkot on Thursday.
Assam, who made 281 in their first innings, were bowled out for just 94 in their second innings, after Saurashtra had posted 387 in reply.
Bhut, who had already taken six wickets on the third day, finished with eight as Assam's last three wickets fell for only 29 more runs.
The figures are the best by a Saurashtra bowler in Ranji Trophy history, with Bhut becoming only the second Saurashtra bowler to take eight wickets in a Ranji innings after captain Jaydev Unadkat, who took eight for 39 against Delhi in January 2023.
It was Bhut's second five-wicket haul in a row, and the win — Saurashtra's first outright win of the season — gave them seven points.
