Mizoram batter Chinmay Sutar has become the first player in first-class cricket's recorded history to score 800 runs before his sixth innings, after his 175 against Arunachal Pradesh took his tally to 834 runs in just five innings.
Sutar hit 175 off 290 balls with 15 fours as Mizoram declared on 571 for 9, a first-innings lead of 286 runs after Arunachal Pradesh had made 285.
It was his third century of the season, after his unbeaten 400 against Nagaland earlier in the campaign.
His start has passed the old five-innings mark of 724 runs, set by Australian great William Ponsford more than a century ago, and he is now the leading run-getter in the tournament.
