The World Anti-Doping Agency has upgraded the International Cricket Council to Tier 1, its top tier of signatories, because cricket returns to the Olympic Games at Los Angeles 2028 after more than 100 years.
The ICC was in Tier 2 until now, and the new tiers come into effect from 1 January 2027.
Tier 1 federations face stricter compliance rules, including fixing critical gaps in testing, results management and therapeutic use exemptions within three months, or proceedings can follow.
India stays in the top tier of countries facing the strictest scrutiny under the body's compliance monitoring programme.
