Kamboj Joins Bumrah in Elite List With Joint-Best ODI Economy Spell in 21 Years
Anshul Kamboj has joined an elite list of Indian pacers after his superb spell of 2 for 22 in 10 overs against New Zealand in the first ODI at Eden Park in Auckland, with an economy rate of 2.20 runs per over.
His economy rate is the joint-best by an Indian pacer in a one-day innings in which all 10 overs were bowled since 2005, matching Ashish Nehra's 2 for 22 against Sri Lanka at Dambulla in 2005, Ajit Agarkar's 2 for 22 against the West Indies at Kuala Lumpur in 2006, and Jasprit Bumrah's 4 for 22 against Zimbabwe at Harare in 2016.
It was a remarkable turnaround from his one-day debut last month, when he went wicketless for 82 runs in 10 overs against the West Indies in New Chandigarh.
In Auckland, he dismissed New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner and Nathan Smith as India bowled the hosts out for 185 and went on to win by five wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
