Malinga, Mhambrey and Hopkinson Leave Mumbai Indians Coaching Staff
Mumbai Indians have announced that bowling coaches Lasith Malinga and Paras Mhambrey and fielding coach Carl Hopkinson will leave the men's team coaching setup ahead of the 2027 season.
The franchise confirmed the departures on Thursday, thanking all three for their contributions to the team.
Malinga, one of the franchise's most iconic figures, spearheaded its bowling attack in four title-winning campaigns and the 2011 Champions League Twenty20 triumph before returning as a mentor and coach.
Mhambrey served the franchise from 2010 to 2017 before returning for a second spell, while Hopkinson joined ahead of the 2025 season after working with England's men's team.
The changes follow the departure of head coach Mahela Jayawardene earlier this month, with Kieron Pollard taking over as head coach, and no replacements for the three departing coaches have been announced yet.
