Stirling Ruled Out of Namibia Series With Broken Finger, Tector Called Up
Ireland captain Paul Stirling has been ruled out of the rest of the one-day series against Namibia after breaking the ring finger on his left hand while fielding in the third ODI in Windhoek.
Stirling was hurt in the 15th over at short cover, diving for a low catch from a powerful cut shot by Jan Frylinck that struck his fingertip.
A hospital check later that evening confirmed the break, and he could not bat in Ireland's chase as Namibia won by 63 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.
Stirling will return home for recovery and rehabilitation, with Tim Tector called up as his replacement.
Tector has played eight T20 internationals but is yet to make his one-day debut, and Lorcan Tucker will lead Ireland in the final two matches, on 30 October and 1 November in Windhoek.
