India wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia has joined Brisbane Heat for the Women's Big Bash League season, replacing Jess Jonassen, who has been ruled out of the whole season with a hip complaint.
Bhatia, 25, becomes Brisbane's third overseas signing and the only Indian player in this season's competition, after previously playing six matches for Melbourne Stars.
She will link up with the Heat before their second match, against Sydney Thunder, and will stay with the squad for the rest of the season.
Heat coach Mark Sorrell welcomed the late signing, saying Bhatia's experience in Australian conditions will help the batting line-up, with the Heat opening their season against Sydney Sixers.
