Abhishek Sharma now owns the record for the most centuries by an Indian in T20 cricket, after his 113 off 38 balls against New Zealand in Wellington on Tuesday took his tally to 11 centuries in the format, moving past Virat Kohli's 10.
His century came in just 35 balls in the third T20I at Hnry Stadium, his fourth century in T20 internationals, and it powered India's chase of 199, which they finished at 199 for 4 in 13.2 overs to win by six wickets and seal the five-match series 3-0.
Only Chris Gayle, with 22 centuries, and Babar Azam, with 13, have scored more centuries in all T20 cricket, while Kohli's 10 had stood as the Indian record before Tuesday's knock, which also included nine fours and 11 sixes.
