Morkel and Mohit Return as CSK Reshape Coaching Staff for IPL 2027

Chennai Super Kings have brought back two of their former players into the coaching staff for the 2027 season, naming former South Africa all-rounder Albie Morkel as an assistant coach and former India fast bowler Mohit Sharma as bowling coach.

Morkel, who played for the franchise from 2008 to 2013 and was part of their title wins in 2010 and 2011, also serves as head coach of Joburg Super Kings in South Africa's SA20.

Mohit, who won the Purple Cap with the franchise in 2014, returns as bowling coach.

Former England spinner Gareth Batty also joins as an assistant coach, while fielding coach James Foster and assistant coach Sridharan Sriram stay on.

The new staff will work under head coach Zaheer Khan, who has taken over from long-serving coach Stephen Fleming, as the five-time champions rebuild after three seasons without a playoff appearance, and the franchise thanked its outgoing support staff.
