India Smash World Record With Fastest Team 100 in Five Overs

India smashed the world record for the fastest team hundred in T20 internationals during their chase in the third T20I at Hnry Stadium in Wellington on Tuesday, reaching 100 runs in just five overs.

Openers Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi started the chase of 199 with a storm, as India also brought up their team fifty in only 2.2 overs, equalling the joint world record held by Papua New Guinea and Romania.

The previous fastest team hundred belonged to Romania, who reached 100 in 5.2 overs against Serbia in 2021, while the previous fastest team fifty by a Test-playing nation was 2.4 overs.

Abhishek reached his own fifty in 15 balls and Sooryavanshi made 45 off 19 balls, as India went on to win by six wickets and seal the five-match series 3-0.
