Sutar Breaks First-Class World Record as Mizoram Win by an Innings

Mizoram batter Chinmay Sutar has set a world record in first-class cricket, reaching 834 runs in his first five innings.

His 175 off 290 balls against Arunachal Pradesh at Anand took his tally to 834 runs in just five innings — the most ever at that stage, passing Bill Ponsford’s 724 after five innings, a mark that had stood since 1923.

Sutar, 29, hit 15 fours as Mizoram declared on 571 for 9, and the team went on to win the match by an innings and 29 runs.

It is his third century of the season, after his unbeaten 400 against Nagaland earlier in the campaign.
