Glenn Maxwell Retires From International Cricket at 38
Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing down the curtain on a 14-year career at the age of 38.
Maxwell played 286 matches for Australia across all three formats, scoring 7,226 runs and taking 136 wickets, and he was part of the sides that won the 2015 and 2023 one-day World Cups and the 2021 T20 World Cup.
He made his one-day debut against Afghanistan in August 2012 and went on to play 149 one-day matches for 3,990 runs, having already stepped away from that format in June 2025, while in T20 internationals he scored 2,897 runs in 130 matches, including a record-equalling five centuries, a mark he shares with Rohit Sharma.
His most famous innings came at the 2023 World Cup in Mumbai, where he smashed an unbeaten 201 off 128 balls against Afghanistan to rescue a chase of 292 after Australia had slipped to 91 for 7, and he also played seven Tests after debuting against India in 2013.
