Bad Light Denies India A as New Zealand A Hold On for Draw in Lincoln
The first unofficial Test between India A and New Zealand A at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln ended in a draw on Tuesday, after bad light stopped play on the final day with the hosts nine wickets down.
Chasing 313, New Zealand A finished on 187 for 9, still 126 runs short, with Curtis Heaphy unbeaten on 90 off 187 balls and Jayden Lennox on 6 not out when the umpires took the players off the field.
India A had fought back from 113 all out in the first innings, with Devdutt Padikkal's 199 powering their second innings to 516, and Auqib Nabi's early triple strike had reduced the hosts to 13 for 3.
Padikkal, who fell one run short of a double century, also took two wickets on the final day, but the fading light denied India A the last wicket and a famous comeback win.
