India Become First Team Ever to Hit 400 Sixes in a Calendar Year
India have become the first team ever to hit 400 sixes in a calendar year in T20 internationals, reaching the mark during the fifth and final T20I against New Zealand at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
India needed 11 sixes to reach 400 and struck exactly that many in their innings of 191 for 8, in what was their 40th match of 2026.
Naman Dhir hit the 400th six, top-edging a flick off Blair Tickner over the fine-leg boundary in the 19th over.
Ishan Kishan hit five sixes in his 61 and Shreyas Iyer hit four in his 50, with Dhir and Nitish Kumar Reddy adding one six each to complete the 11.
The previous record was Austria's 326 sixes in 2025, while India's own best among full-member sides was 289 in 2022, and 142 of India's 400 sixes this year have come against New Zealand, the most against one opponent in a calendar year.
Abhishek Sharma leads India's six-hitting chart for the year with 86 sixes, followed by Kishan with 60 and Sanju Samson with 50.
