England fast bowler Josh Tongue has been ruled out of the three-match one-day series against Australia with a toe injury, the England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed on Saturday.
The 28-year-old hurt the big toe on his left foot and will return to the United Kingdom for further assessment, with England yet to name a replacement.
Tongue had been rested for the Twenty20 leg of the tour and picked only for the one-day matches as part of a workload plan, and the injury is a niggle he had been carrying since the Pakistan tour.
The three-match series starts in Perth on Friday, 13 November, and England's squad is led by Harry Brook.
