Virat Kohli has become the first batter in one-day international history to average 50 or more in matches played in each of South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia.

His 74 off 51 balls in the first ODI at Eden Park in Auckland lifted his average in New Zealand past 50 and completed the set.

Before the Auckland match, Kohli had scored 596 runs in New Zealand at an average of 49.66.

The 74 took his tally there to 670 runs at 51.53.

His averages in the other three countries stand at 76.38 in South Africa, with 993 runs, 51.48 in England, with 1,493 runs, and 50.03 in Australia, with 1,401 runs.

The knock helped India beat New Zealand by five wickets in the rain-hit opener, chasing a revised target of 143 after the hosts were bowled out for 185, to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
