Goyat's Maiden Five-For Puts Services on Top Against Delhi
Services pacer Jayant Goyat claimed his maiden first-class five-wicket haul against Delhi in their Ranji Trophy match at Palam, finishing with 5 for 65 in 23.4 overs as Delhi were bowled out for 344 in their first innings.
Delhi still took a 78-run first-innings lead after Services made 266, but Mohit Ahlawat's maiden first-class century against his former team turned the match around.
Ahlawat struck 142 off 150 balls with seven sixes, and with captain Rajat Paliwal unbeaten on 62, Services reached 280 for 5 at stumps on day three, a lead of 202 runs with five wickets in hand.
Goyat, a 21-year-old fast-medium bowler who serves in the Indian Air Force, said red-ball cricket remains the toughest and most important format of the game, calling it the real test of a player's patience and skill.
