Defending champions Hobart Hurricanes have suffered another injury blow on the eve of the new Women's Big Bash League season, with England spinner Linsey Smith hurt at training.
Smith picked up a quad injury on Tuesday night and will undergo scans, with the club hopeful she can return later in the tournament.
New Zealand batter Maddy Green has been called into the squad in her place for the Hurricanes' season opener against Melbourne Stars at Junction Oval.
Teenage fast bowler Ira Aery, 17, has also joined the squad as an injury replacement for Callie Wilson.
The Hurricanes are already without Danni Wyatt-Hodge, who is out with a calf injury, as they begin their title defence.
