Mominul Haque Out of Dhaka Test With Concussion, Jaker Ali Steps In
Bangladesh batter Mominul Haque has been ruled out of the first Test against West Indies in Dhaka after suffering a head injury while fielding, with Jaker Ali Anik named as his concussion substitute for the rest of the match.
Mominul was fielding at short leg during the 78th over of West Indies' first innings on day three at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur when a ball struck off Joshua Bishop's bat flew towards him off Mehidy Hasan Miraz's bowling.
He dived for the catch, lost control of the ball and fell face-first to the ground despite wearing a helmet, and was taken off for medical checks after showing signs of concussion.
The team management then confirmed he would take no further part in the match, with Jaker coming in as his substitute.
Jaker went on to bat in Bangladesh's second innings and was unbeaten on 18 when bad light ended day three with the hosts 79 for 6, leading by 106 runs after West Indies were bowled out for 245 in reply to Bangladesh's 272.
Mominul's place in the second Test in Sylhet, starting on 5 November, now depends on medical clearance.
