Ryan Rickelton struck a fighting 101 as South Africa seized control of the deciding third Test against Australia at Newlands in Cape Town on Friday.
South Africa had given away a 100-run first-innings lead, making 329 to Australia's 429, and resumed day four on 140 for 4, just 40 runs ahead.
Rickelton and Wiaan Mulder then shared 154 runs for the sixth wicket, with Mulder unbeaten on 65 when Rickelton reached his hundred.
Rickelton was run out for 101 soon after the milestone following a mix-up with Mulder, but by then South Africa's lead had stretched past 230, leaving Australia chasing the game in a series locked at 1-1.
