Rohit Sharma Chases History in New Zealand ODI Series
Veteran opener Rohit Sharma heads into India's five-match ODI series against New Zealand chasing several major career milestones, with the first match at Eden Park in Auckland on Wednesday, 4 November.
Rohit already holds the record for the most sixes in ODI cricket, with 381 to his name, and 19 more would make him the first batter ever to reach 400 sixes in the format.
He has scored 20,652 runs in international cricket, so 348 more would take him past 21,000, a mark only Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Rahul Dravid have reached among Indian batters.
He is also 36 runs short of 5,000 runs in SENA countries, South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia, and two more scores of fifty or more in ODIs would take him to 100 such scores, which would make him only the sixth batter in the world to reach that mark.
Rohit has 35 ODI centuries and 63 fifties, giving him 98 fifty-plus scores so far.
He is yet to score an ODI century on New Zealand soil, and one in this series would also make him only the fourth Indian batter with ODI centuries in all four SENA countries, alongside Tendulkar, Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan.
