Shahbaz Ahmed scored 121 and Mohammed Shami took three wickets as Bengal took control of their Ranji Trophy match against Kerala.
Bengal reached 350 in their first innings thanks to Shahbaz's fourth first-class hundred, which included eight fours and four sixes, and a 103-run stand with Sumanta Gupta, who made 49.
Shami then took three wickets for just 20 runs, and Shahbaz added two wickets of his own, as Kerala closed day two on 101 for 6, still 249 runs behind.
Bengal coach Laxmi Ratan Shukla said the plan is to finish Kerala's innings quickly on day three before thinking about the follow-on.
