South Africa batting coach Ashwell Prince and player Kyle Verreynne have been handed official reprimands by the world governing body for showing dissent at an umpire decision during the third Test against Australia in Cape Town.

Each man has also received one demerit point on his record, as a first offence in a 24-month period.

The incident came on the third day of the match, after opener Marques Ackerman was dismissed in the second innings, caught by Cameron Green off Mitchell Starc, when the umpires ruled that the 15-second window for a review had already passed.

Prince shouted repeatedly at the umpires from the pavilion that time was still left for the appeal, while Verreynne, who was not in the playing eleven and was on 12th-man duties, asked Ackerman to stay inside the boundary line, which delayed his walk back to the pavilion.

Both men admitted the offences and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Javagal Srinath, so no formal hearing was needed.

The reprimands do not change the result of the match: South Africa won the Cape Town Test by 176 runs to take the series 2-1.
