Gujarat wicketkeeper-batter Urvil Patel has smashed his maiden first-class double century, finishing unbeaten on 210 off 227 balls against Kerala in the Ranji Trophy at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
Coming in at number six, Patel reached his century in just 91 balls and his double century in 214 balls, hitting 17 fours and six sixes, as Gujarat declared their first innings on 534 for 9.
Kerala were 74 for 3 at stumps on Day 2, still trailing by 460 runs.
The knock adds a red-ball milestone to a white-ball reputation built on his 28-ball century against Tripura in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in November 2024, the fastest T20 hundred by an Indian batter.
