Towhid Hridoy finished unbeaten on 242 as Bangladesh posted 386 to take a 30-run first-innings lead over West Indies' 356 on the third day of the second Test in Sylhet.

His 242 off 359 balls, with 22 fours and 11 sixes, is now the highest individual Test score by a Bangladeshi, passing Mushfiqur Rahim's 219 not out against Zimbabwe in 2018.

Hridoy resumed the day on 29 and added 213 runs in the day, a Bangladesh record, while his 11 sixes are also the most by a Bangladeshi in a Test innings.

He became the first Bangladeshi to turn his maiden Test century into a double century, and West Indies closed the day on 7 for 0, still 23 runs behind, with Bangladesh needing a win to level the two-match series.
