Virat Kohli Turns 38, A Day After His Match-Winning 74 at Eden Park
Virat Kohli turns 38 today, 5 November, after celebrating his birthday eve with a match-winning knock in Auckland.
Born in Delhi on 5 November 1988, Kohli made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in August 2008 and went on to become one of the greatest batters the game has seen.
Across formats he has scored more than 28,000 international runs, including upwards of 15,000 in ODIs at an average above 59, with 86 international centuries to his name - 30 in Tests, 55 in ODIs and one in T20Is.
He captained India to the Under-19 World Cup title in 2008 and was part of the 2011 ODI World Cup, 2013 Champions Trophy and 2024 T20 World Cup winning sides, retiring from T20Is after the 2024 final and from Tests in May 2025.
On Wednesday he top-scored with 74 off 51 balls as India beat New Zealand by five wickets in the rain-hit first ODI at Eden Park, chasing a revised target of 143.
During the match the Eden Park crowd sang happy birthday to him in advance, with fans holding up birthday messages and postcards, and Kohli waved back to acknowledge their wishes.
