Marufa Akter Ruled Out of New Zealand Tour With Ankle Injury

Bangladesh pacer Marufa Akter will miss the women's tour of New Zealand in December because of an ankle injury, with the board confirming she will not travel with the team.

The tour has three one-day matches and three T20 matches, and the team are set to leave Dhaka on 4 December, while Marufa stays home to focus on her recovery.

She has bone erosion at the base of the fifth metatarsal bone in her right foot, is wearing an Aircast boot, and is on restricted activity after four weeks of bed rest, with hopes she can start walking again in the first week of December.

An injection before the recent tour of Australia did not work as hoped, and the team rested her for the final game of that tour, with the board keen to give her a full recovery rather than rush her back.
