Rain stopped play in the second ODI at Hnry Stadium in Wellington, with India on 113 for 7 in 26 overs while chasing 135 to win.
KL Rahul was unbeaten on 26 and Auqib Nabi on 1, with India needing 22 runs from 21 overs in the match cut to 47 overs a side.
Anshul Kamboj fell in the 26th over, caught by Jacob Duffy off Kyle Jamieson, and India were four runs ahead of the DLS par score of 109, so they would win if no more play is possible.
Officials first set a restart for 10:55 pm local time, with the game cut to 37 overs and India then needing 20 more runs, but drizzle sent the covers back on, with 11:00 pm local time the latest play can start.
