Rain has stopped play in the first ODI against New Zealand at Eden Park in Auckland on Wednesday, with India on 54 for 1 in their chase of 186 in the series opener.
The covers came on after 10.5 overs, with captain Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli at the crease after India had lost Rohit Sharma for a duck in the first over of the chase.
India still need 132 more runs to win the first ODI of the five-match series, after bowling New Zealand out for 185 in 40.2 overs in a match already delayed by rain at the toss.
